Welcome to Grade 3/4!
I am looking forward to meeting all of you! This year will be another adventure for all of us. There is so much to learn, so much to make and so much to do, the year will fly by. It is always exciting for me to watch students blossom. Yes, I am the teacher however students and parents will teach me many new things as well. We are a learning community and we care about each other.
We'll be speaking French most of the time and the students will adjust quickly. Every year I'm impressed with how well the students can communicate in French. Students will have the opportunity to earn class rewards once the class has earned a certain amount of points.
Students are bringing home agendas today. The cost is 7$. If you are unable to pay just let me know and we can work something out. The students write in their agenda every day! So if your child has nothing written you know that he/she did not write the messages in his/her agenda. However not to worry as they will play catch up and still write the messages they missed. During the year they may miss one day due to a class trip.
Please sign the agenda every day. It will be your child's responsibility to ensure that you sign. This is an opportunity for the children to learn to be in charge of their materials.
I have supplied each student with a box of Crayola crayons (wax), Crayola colouring crayons and Crayola markers, pencils, erasers, notebooks and duotangs. They have all the necessary supplies for a successful start to our school year! I am asking every student to donate the following:
* 2 boxes of Kleenex
* a bottle of hand sanitizer
* a roll of paper towel
New or old kids magazines ( such as Chickadee or Kids National Geographic, etc) or young readers books, arts and craft supplies are always welcomed donations to our class!
We are focusing on being as environmentally friendly as possible and creating as little waste as we can. I am asking students to use reusable containers, bottles and cutlery whenever possible in our classroom and in our lunches.
Nightly homework will begin the second week of school and will usually consist of math work and nightly reading. It should take no longer than 20-30 minutes every school night. The math homework will be explained at the beginning of each week.
If you would like to communicate with me, I ask you to do so in your child's agenda, through school messenger (which will be set up shortly) or to call the school at 519-660-2777.
* Our School Board is not permitted to use other classroom Apps (ie. Classdojo, Seesaw) as they are not secure applications.
Thank you in advance for your support! We are going to have a great school year!
